Referees

UKDBA Referees are qualified professional officials, who have passed the UKDBA Referee Training Course.The training course is open to all people who want to become involved in running the many UKDBA events, which take place all over the UK.

The Course consists of 4 stages. Parts 1-2 will normally be completed on the same day. Parts Three and Four are for UKDBA coaches, experienced players will have to complete Part Two as well and all four parts of the training for people new to UKDBA dodgeball:
 
Part One - for trainees new to UKDBA dodgeball. A one-hour introduction to how the sport is played through active game play and talking through the main rules.

Part Two - a Written Test. This covers the basic match rules of UKDBA Dodgeball. (Qualified UKDBA Coaches, Level One and above will bypass this Stage.)

Part Three - consists of a Workshop, this covers the Match Rules and Tournament Regulations in more depth. It is a classroom based workshop, where the interpretation and application of rules will be demonstrated and explained in detail and trainees can ask any specific questions which they have. The Stage Two Test will ask questions, which require detailed answers, about some of the points covered by the Workshop. The trainees will be informed of their grade at the end of the Workshop. The Workshops last aproximately 3.5 hours.

Part Four - a Live Assessment at adult competitive tournaments. Trainees will be informed of their progress at the end of each event. Trainees should expect to be assessed over two or three events.

All parts of the Referee Training Course can be retaken, if necessary. The aim is to recruit and train referees, it is not to meant to discourage people who want to get involved.
