UKDBA Referees are qualified professional officials, who have passed the UKDBA Referee Training Course.
The training course is open to all people who want to become involved in running the many UKDBA events, which take place all over the UK.
The Course consists of 3 stages:
- Stage One is a Written Test. This covers the basic match rules of UKDBA Dodgeball. (Qualified UKDBA Coaches, Level One and above will bypass this Stage.)
- Stage Two consists of a Workshop. This covers the Match Rules and Tournament Regulations in more depth. It is a classroom based workshop, where the interpretation and application of rules will be demonstrated and explained in detail and trainees can ask any specific questions which they have. The Stage Two Test will ask questions, which require detailed answers, about some of the points covered by the Workshop. The trainees will be informed of their grade at the end of the Workshop. The Workshops last aproximately 3.5 hours.
- Stage Three is a Live Assessment at a competitive dodgeball event. Trainees will be informed of their grade at the end of the event.
All parts of the Referee Training Course can be retaken, if necessary. The aim is to recruit and train referees, it is not to meant to discourage people who want to get involved.
