MORE TOURNAMENTS
Tournaments have been scheduled for 8th June in Birmingham and 6th July in North London. Check out the Events page for more details.
University Championship 2008 will be on 22nd October at Jubilee Sports Centre, University of Nottingham. This tournament will be a qualifying competition for the British Championship 2009.

WOMENS OPEN TOURNAMENT 2008
WARWICK UNI WOMEN I ARE THE FIRST WINNERS OF A WOMENS DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT IN THE UK. THEY CAME OUT ON TOP OF THE LEAGUE TABLE IN A ROUND ROBIN EVENT, PLAYED BY THE 5 ENTRANTS. SOUTHAMPTON UNI FINISHED A CLOSE SECOND, AFTER HOLDING WARWICK I TO A 2-2 DRAW IN THE OPENING MATCH OF THE COMPETITION.

BALLS OF STEEL ARE TOP UNIVERSITY TEAM
BALLS of STEEL won the University & College Tournament, held on their home ground, Jubilee Sports Centre (University of Nottingham), on 26th April. The reigning University Champions bounced back from a disappointing display in the British Championship to take the trophy at the Spring academics only event. After a sluggish start, losing 2-3 to Warwick Uni Warriors II, they then blasted through the remaining two group fixtures and the three play-off matches losing just 2 games out of 25.

BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
Jammy Dodgers overpowered Leeds Met Carnegie II by 4-0 in a one-sided final, in the climax to an afternoon of top quality dodgeball. Leeds Met Carnegie II were the suprise package in a high quality tournament, beating New City Outlaws (Southern Champions) in the group stages and Warwick University Warriors (University Runner-up) in the Semi-Final.

DODGEBALL - THE MOVIE makes an impact

Channel 4 screened Dodgeball the Movie on Sunday 13th April. This site has received a record number of visits over the following week, breaking the 1,000 mark for a week’s hits, for the first time. The Movie has had an even greater impact on the increase in website visits than our involvement with Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, in February.

New Committee
UKDBA A.G.M. on 16th March saw the election of a new Chairman, Peter Robson, and Vice Chairman, Keven Barnes. The other two Executive Committee members, Treasurer (Kyle Wedgwood) and Secretary (Nick Pinnock) both continue from last year.
Rob Jones will continue as Press Officer and Paul Littlefair was appointed as Merchandise Officer; the appointment of a Media Promotions Officer was agreed as James Hopkins from Emblaze Productions; Youth Development Officer is Kevin Houghton of TeamTheme.

DODGEBALL HITS ITV1 - 23/02/2008
 
Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, ITV’s top rating show, featured DODGEBALL in Ant v. Dec 'The Teams' in the live show.
UKDBA coaches Kyle Wedgwood, Mat Van de Pette, Nick Pinnock and Robin Bonner coached the teams on the Tuesday before and during the day of the show. They were assissted by players from Warwick University Warriors, Balls of Steel and Retail Assassins who played against the celebrity teams and stood in for them on the final dress rehearsal, 2 hours before the show went out live. Top UKDBA Referee Crew, Peter Robson, Keven Barnes and Ben Farr officiated the live celebrity match.

NATIONAL RANKING SYSTEM IS NOW IN PLACE, FOR THE UP TO DATE NATIONAL TOURNAMENT TEAM RANKINGS.
TEAMS MUST COMPETE IN UKDBA RECOGNISED TOURNAMENTS, WHICH ARE PLAYED FULLY TO UKDBA MATCH RULES.
LEAGUE PLACES AND NON-UKDBA TOURNAMENTS DO NOT COUNT TOWARDS THE RANKINGS.
